About Me

I live in Durham region, Ontario with my three children, husband, cat and dog.  We have a busy, active and loving household.  In my spare time I enjoy exercising, yoga, reading, trying out new recipes and playing a few favorite videogames with my kids.

I have over 18 years experience working in the field after graduating with a combined Bachelors of Social Work and Bachelors of Arts in Sociology in 2005 and returning to school to complete a Masters of Social Work in 2019. I have most recently worked in a school-based setting, supporting children and youth with their mental health.  I also have experience in women's services and counselling adults on matters related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, abuse, trauma and parenting related concerns.

One of the things that makes me unique is my warm approach and seeking to truly understand who you are and what’s most important to you in your life.  The therapeutic time we spend together really is about you!  I believe you are the expert on your own life and I am honoured to be present to offer support, a new understanding, strategies and coaching in the ways that will be most helpful to you.  I take an integrative approach based on your individual needs, drawing on evidence-based treatment models such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma informed practice, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy from an anti-oppressive perspective.  With younger clients I also use elements of play therapy and draw on their interests to make therapy engaging and supportive of their unique needs.
